Abby Levin
Director of Development
Along with being the Director of Development for Church Street School for Music and Art, Abby Levin is a percussionist, art maker and early childhood educator. As a native New Yorker, Abby was exposed to art and music programs growing up at The Dalton School. She continued to immerse herself in the arts during many formative summers attending and then working at Buck’s Rock Camp for the Performing and Creative Arts and later at Skidmore College and The Marchutz School of Fine Arts in Aix-en-Provence, France. Â
Abby spent many years living out on the East End of Long Island. During that time she had the great fortune to work closely with Master Puppeteer, Founder of non-profit puppet theater Goat on a Boat, and President of the Puppeteers of America, Liz Joyce. Along with developing and teaching early childhood art classes, Abby also co-wrote and performed original puppet theater with Liz. Â
Abby spent several years teaching music and movement to children and families in the Hamptons through the Music Together program. She also served as the Director for the preschool program at East Hampton Sports Camp at Sportime in Amagansett, NY and was the founding drummer for groove rock band Jettykoon.Â
Abby was excited to discover Church Street School in 2013 and began her time there as a music and movement teacher. Over the years she has held many positions with CSSMA and was thrilled to become the Director of Development several years ago. Abby believes deeply in the therapeutic power of community and the arts and is passionate about Church Street School’s mission to ensure inclusivity and accessibility to the arts for ALL.Â
