Office Recovery Fund
In March 2014 a fire broke out in the apartment directly above our school at 72 Warren Street. It triggered the fire sprinklers and flooded all of the floors below, including our administrative offices and performance space! Luckily no one was hurt in the fire and most of our classroom space was spared. However, parts of our school sustained significant water damage and must be completely renovated before we can inhabit them again.
Good news:
We have insurance!
Bad news:
Parts of our school are unusable and insurance will only cover a portion of what was destroyed.

Spring Benefit Concert

A Bolt of Light! These artists are making waves and getting noticed in the New York and nationwide music scenes and are playing a very special and rare all-ages show to benefit Church Street and its mission of non-profit arts and music education. CSS Artist in the News
What do Church Street School teaching artists do when they aren’t at the school? Make art and show in exhibitions of course! Be sure to check out the work of artist Z Behl, Alexis Kandra and Azikiwe Mohammed as they exhibit around NYC.
Z Behl and Alexis Kandra exhibit in Bruce High Quality Foundation’s Brucennial group show. Read the Gallerist write-up of the event which happens to hold the Guiness Book of World Records record for largest show featuring only women artists.
Be sure to check out Alexis’s work hanging in the Church Street School lobby and music room through the end of March.

Paper Bird Toy Art Project
It may still be winter, but you can bring a little spring time into your home with this at home art project. Print out the bird image on your home printer (use heavier paper or card stock if you have it) cut it out and assemble. Don’t have a printer? Stop in at the school, we have extra copies!
