Explore! Dramatic Arts| 13 – 17 years

July 28, 2020 – August 20, 2020 (four weeks)

Tues. & Thurs. 10:00am – 12:00pm

This Summer, Drama League Directing Fellowship alumnus Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li is offering an exciting virtual exploration of dramatic arts.

From imagination to reality, Explore! Dramatic Arts will guide students through creating a space to tell their unique stories. In this four week intensive workshop, students will learn to turn their stories into dramatic writing, culminating in a theatrical performance. Participants will explore and  experience lives from different perspectives, and create a world to tell stories of our own. From writing to directing, Explore! Dramatic Arts reveals how a theatrical production comes to life.

Week 1: What’s your Story?

Students will share the stories they find inspiring and will try various ways to tell stories

Week 2: Make your story into a dramatic piece

Whether it is a monologue, a dialogue, or simply physical movement, students will learn how to contextualize their ideas for storytelling

Week 3: Where does your story take place? Creating the space for your story.

Students will learn some theatrical elements, such as lighting and scenic design, to create a world for their own story to tell

Week 4: Act it out!

A week of rehearsal and performance, students share what they have worked on with their friends and families.

All classes take place online. Once registered, you’ll receive an email with a simple instruction to guide you to your classroom!
