Sam Friend holds a Masters Degree in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. He has also previously earned a Bachelor of Music from the University of Miami Frost School of Music. An accomplished musician, Sam has toured nationally, recorded multiple albums, scored music for films, and composed for apps. A collaborative and creative musician who has a genuine love for sharing, teaching, and community building, Sam has taught music in schools in Miami, Seattle, and New York City.

As a teacher, Sam creates an open and encouraging musical environment that compliments and enhances the student’s interests and goals. A multi-instrumentalist, his experience and expertise ranges from the guitar, bass, voice, piano and synthesizers to songwriting and music production techniques. He studied classical music during his childhood, jazz in college, and has since primarily performed and recorded in the rock and pop arena as a professional. When teaching, Sam utilizes his breath of stylistic diversity to help craft an appropriate and exciting practice for his students, inviting their inner musician to emerge and flourish.
