Rachel Leal is a writer and artist. Originally from Northern California she has lived in NYC for 12 years. She studied studio art and holds a B.A. in Creative Writing from Columbia University. In addition to teaching art she designs and fabricates props and crafts for still photography. Rachel works with all materials and mediums, from paint and wood to marshmallows. Some of her favorite projects to work on are improvisational textile collage and embroidery, gouache illustrations for children’s books and creating shadow boxes in which she fabricates literary scenes. She is Passionate about early childhood education and the emotional and tactile responses to process-based art.
